On the 14th September 2024, Huddersfield Star Wheelers member Steve Eastwood rode each of the fifty climbs in order, without descending the same road more than once, and only making u-turns at Castle Hill and Holme Moss - for other Steve added extra distance (and elevation!) in order to arrive at the next climb.
The climbs total 199 miles or 336 km and involve an elevation of some 9,000 metres. High points include the cyclists’ nemesis Holme Moss and Castle Hill.
Of course, Steve’s didn’t do this just for the love of crazy cycling challenges, but also to raise money for Holme Valley Mountain Rescue Team. Steve has always been passionate about cycling and has witnessed first-hand the importance of mountain rescue teams.
